MDPE LG Chem SP980 Resin

MDPE LG Chem SP980 Resin

Material Introduction: MDPE LG Chem SP980 is a medium‑density polyethylene specially designed for hot‑cold water piping systems. Adopting advanced catalyst and molecular‑structure design, it fits heating‑floor and hot‑cold water‑supply pipe systems with strict requirements for long‑term pressure resistance, heat resistance and crack resistance. It is well‑known for excellent long‑term hydrostatic strength, outstanding slow‑crack‑growth resistance and favorable processability。

Main Applications

Floor‑heating piping systems: Manufacture of PE‑RT floor‑heating pipes, its classic and primary application. It can withstand long‑term cyclic exposure to high‑temperature hot water and pressure.

Hot‑cold water delivery pipes: Hot‑cold potable‑water pipes inside buildings for domestic and commercial water‑supply systems.

Al‑plastic composite pipes: Used as inner liner for producing PEX‑AL‑PERT composite pipes, combining corrosion resistance of plastic pipe and oxygen‑barrier property of metal pipe.

Molding Process

Processing Stage Parameters Recommended Range / Description
Drying Necessity Pre‑drying is normally unnecessary. If moisture is observed after opening bags under extremely humid storage conditions, dry at 60‑80°C for 1‑2 hours to prevent surface defects.
Extrusion Barrel Temperature Profile Feeding zone:160‑180°C;Compression zone:180‑200°C;Metering zone:200‑220°C;Die‑head & die:210‑230°C
Melt Temperature Recommended:200‑230°C. Avoid excessive temperature and long residence time to prevent material degradation.
Screw Speed Adjust according to pipe dimension and extruder size to achieve good plasticization and stable extrusion output.
Cooling Sizing & Cooling Vacuum sizing tank is required. Cooling water tank shall guarantee sufficient water volume and cooling efficiency. Water temperature is generally 10‑25 °C, ensuring pipe roundness, dimensional stability and minimizing internal stress.
Pulling Pull‑off Speed Pull‑off speed shall well match extrusion speed and remain stable for uniform wall thickness and straightness of pipes.
